Frequently asked questions

Can I be hypnotised?

Anyone can be hypnotised if they want to be. You can never be forced into hypnosis against your will.

Will I lose control?

You will remain in control at all times. The hypnotherapist has no hold or control over you and you can get up and walk out at any moment whether you are in hypnosis or not.

What is being in hypnosis like?

Hypnosis is in fact a very normal experience and we all experience hypnosis at least once a day. For example, day dreaming is hypnosis or when you are reading a book on the tube or train and you are oblivious to the noise around you. You are in hypnosis anytime your mind is distracted yet you are still aware of what is happening when the rest of the world is busying around you.

So, if you were engrossed in your book on the train oblivious to the chatting and noise around you but you smelt smoke, an alarm went off or someone said your name you would be consciously aware of this and would respond. This is hypnosis. You are relaxed but always in control and aware of anything that may put you in danger or needs your attention.

What is the difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is the state that a person experiences. Hypnotherapy is using that state for therapy purposes.
